Applications.
We review applications on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but if we miss a day please don't worry. Sometimes the moderators are just as busy as everyone else, and simply can't get to reviewing the new applications. We aren't playing favorites by conveniently skipping the day that your application should have been reviewed, we promise.
For some applications, we might need to debate amongst ourselves for a little while before we accept it. You will be informed of this situation by a post titled PENDING in response to the application.
Additionally, you may be asked for a clarification of some sort by a mod before you are accepted. This is common, and it's just for the sake of consistency. The most common case for this is that your canon synopsis or onorata-verse background was not complete enough.
If you are applying for a cloned character, you absolutely must have been pre-approved by a moderator.

Oh, and IF YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED ONCE BEFORE, YOU DON'T NEED TO WRITE FIRST-PERSON SAMPLES AGAIN. Yay!


And now, a general rundown of what each field is asking for. For further information, please see the FAQ!

Please check the dropped characters list before you begin the application process. If you plan to apply for a dropped character, please speak with the moderators first.

To apply to Onorata, please fill out the form below, and post it here.

PLAYER
NAME: Your name or alias.
PERSONAL LJ: Your personal LiveJournal. Not required, but preferred...
EMAIL/MESSENGER(S): Emails are required, because we need this to contact you if issues come up. It is also helpful for other players to contact you this way. Additionally, please list your usernames on AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, whatever you happen to use. Not required, but extremely recommended, because it's faster than email.

CHARACTER
NAME: Your character's name.
FANDOM: The show, book, movie, etc. that they come from. (For allowed fandoms, see the FAQ.)

CANON SYNOPSIS:

Try to give us a brief summary of your character as they appear in canon. Show us a concise overview of their history. Tell us what they act like, how they respond to certain situations, what they do, what they aspire to do...anything about them you think is important. Be as complete as you think you can, without overdoing it.
If your character's canon is very long, or very disjointed, please also pick at least one story arc (or something similar), that you feel describes your character very well, to add to the summary.

ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND:
This is the new backstory for your character, as they exist within Onorata. How did your character grow up (or did they grow up, or were they made)? What family is your character from, if any? Are they part of the mafia, the Antimafia Commission, or do they work for hire? Why is your character where they are in the city? Do they have any strange abilities or powers? All of this is important, and we ask for as much detail as possible. We're looking for you to parallel your character's canon background where you can, though of course we aren't expecting anything perfect.
NOTE: If you are applying for a dropped character please read the bullet-point addressing it in the FAQ. A complete listing of dropped characters can be found [here]. Please speak with a moderator before you apply for a dropped character.


CURRENT SITUATION: This is an extension of the Onorata-verse background. Try to answer all these questions completely. Where is your character now? Do they have a job, or a cover job to hide their involvement with mafia activities? Where are they living, and with whom? What are they doing right now, as they first enter the game?

ALIGNMENT: From the CHARACTER ALIGNMENT page, choose either Monacello, Vescovo, Antimafia Commission, or Neutral.

RANK: Please choose three ranks from the ranking list–found [here]–that you feel will be appropriate, and list them in the order you desire them. The mods will do their best to accommodate you and attempt to give you your first choice! If you choose a rank above Soldati/Soldier, you must explain how your character fits in that role. Thank you!

SAMPLES
THIRD PERSON: A sample of how you would write your character in a log in [info]onoratalogs. Minimum of 100 words.
FIRST PERSON: A sample of how your character would be speaking if they were posting in [info]onorata. Minimum of 3 sentences.

NOTES
Anything else you need to add? Please note if your character was on reserve here, or if you're not doing a first-person sample because you've already got other characters in the game presently, etc., if applicable. If you've done backstory with another player, this is the place to mention that you've spoken with them. about it.
If you have a character application that was accepted, but you dropped from the game, and are looking to re-apply for that character or any other, please link to that application if you choose to not write a first-person sample. Thanks!

CHARACTER
NAME: Nikaido.
FANDOM: Dorohedoro.
CANON SYNOPSIS: Nikaido is neither a dainty woman nor a huge woman; she’s moderately sized, a secret magic user dumped in the Hole-- a wasteland where non-magic users are generally stuck-- with a mean kick and a talent for all things culinary-- in particular, gyoza. She is the accomplice of Caiman; a man experimented on by magic users and given a reptilian head, as well as a strange immunity to magic. She helped him get up back on his feet when he was down, just after having been experimented on, and when he decided to go track down the guy who did this to him, she tagged along. She cares a lot for him, and treasures his friendship: the two of them are nigh inseparable.

Ability wise, she can use magic in a pinch and could also kick a guy’s face off if she felt like it-- however; she’s really a good woman who just does some horrible things. As such, she doesn’t prefer to rely on violence, but won’t hesitate when it’s what is necessary for the situation.

ONORATA-VERSE BACKGROUND: Born to two scientists and then orphaned at a relatively young age, Nikaido knows how to take care of herself as well as others. She’s been living by herself for a long time-- taking jobs at various restaurants all over Reggio Calabria, she finds cooking to be one of her favored things. It brings good enough money to live by, so she is content with that. Living quietly, Nikaido never expected to find Caiman-- obviously a victim of genetic experiments-- wandering around, lost and without clear memories: only vague ideas of certain things. Having a reptilian head as he did, he knew he had once been human, and it was rather easy for her to believe as well.

Basically taking him in, Nikaido and Caiman live again rather quietly-- it was always nice to have such a willing helping hand, as well as a good friend around-- or, at least until Caiman decided it was time for him to go find the person to have done this to him. She was nearly expecting something like that to happen, but at the same time was surprised. Nikaido was quick to drop just about everything in order to help him best she could. Investigating the masses of scientists would be no easy task, after all-- it was her turn to lend a happily willing hand.

However, they quickly came to a mutual decision: it’d be best to support themselves best they could while continuing with the search. And so, the Hungry Bug was opened. A restaurant of which Nikaido and Caiman both are very proud.

ALIGNMENT: Neutral.
RANK: Shop owner.

SAMPLES
THIRD PERSON: She’s usually up pretty early; early so that the sky is still grey, and the light is still so faint that her interior lights have to be put on, and this is only in the winter. It is in the summer that she gets up and the sun has risen and while it is not yet so bright as to flood her room from its window, it’s still bright enough to see by.

This is how it is now, this morning, when she wakes. Nikaido cleans herself, dresses, and then heads down to the restaurant to start up for the breakfast shift.

FIRST PERSON: Caiman-- we're out of peanut oil as well as peanut sauce. I can’t make stir-fry without it. There are also a few other things we’re almost out of or out of completely, too-- I’m going to be at the store, so should you be stopping by, the place will likely still be locked up. The key is in the regular spot; you should be able to find it. There will be some gyoza wrapped up for you on the table. I shouldn’t be too long.

NOTES: Uhh, my samples are crap? Other than what the Caiman applicant said, no!
